7 Things To Do Outside This Fall

Fall is here! As the weather starts to cool down and the leaves continue falling, you want to balance getting things done with having a good time. Here are 7 things to do outside this fall that would make great use of a free afternoon for you and your family!

Host a cookout.

Just because the weather has started to cool down doesn't mean it’s not still great weather for getting together outdoors with friends and family. So go to the grocery store, grab some meats and veggies, and call your friends and family. Throwing on a sweatshirt and spending some time outside is a great way to pass an afternoon.

Organize a neighborhood football game.

Even when the temperature starts to get down in the 40s and 50s, a game of touch or flag football is a great way to get some exercise and get some blood flowing. So call your friends from the neighborhood and get everyone together at a local park- or in your yard if it’s big enough- and throw the old pigskin around.

Explore local parks and trails.

Chances are, your city has more local trails and parks than you and your family have had time to explore. Do a little research and plan an afternoon at one of these great locations. Take your camera and see what kinds of plants and animals you can identify. Spending a little time in nature can be educational and is always good for our mental well-being.

Go to the pumpkin patch.

There’s no fall tradition quite like taking the family to the pumpkin patch. If you’ve got one near you, they are a fun place for kids of all ages where you can see shows and haunted houses, go for a hayrack ride, eat tasty seasonal snacks, and of course, pick a pumpkin to take home and carve up. Even if you don't have any kids, this is one of our favorite things to do outside this fall.

Finish that checklist.

If it’s fall, that means there are a number of things you ought to be doing in order to get your home and yard ready for the cold winter months ahead. Check out our recent post for a brief checklist of critical tasks you should take care of before the weather becomes prohibitive.

Go for a bike ride.

Fall is perhaps the best season to get out the bicycle and go for a ride. The cooler temperatures mean you won’t have to be drenched in sweat and you can still get in a good workout. Maybe there’s a bike trail you have yet to explore. Put some air in those tires and hit the road!

Clean the gutters.

After all, we can’t emphasize enough how important it is to clean your gutters out in the spring and fall. If you neglect this important household task, you could be in for some expensive, inconvenient repairs down the road.

So there you have it. We hope this blog has given you some inspiration for things to do outside this fall and how to get the most out of your free time. Spending it outdoors with your friends and family is by far the best way to do fall! Check back soon for more tips and updates from EZsmart Tools.
